I have run my own Private Practice ‘Seaford Counselling’, since March 2006

Dealing with clients with a wide range of issues, which include such areas as: Anxiety, Bereavement, Abuse, Self-esteem issues, Work issues, Life changes, relationship issues, and also individuals or groups who have experienced trauma as a result of a traumatic incident.

I have undertaken counselling for:’ Mankind UK’ in Newhaven since 2004.

I am also the Counsellors representative to the Trustees of Mankind UK. Mankind UK is a registered charity providing counselling to males who have been sexually abused or raped, and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

I am Deputy Chair of ‘Sussex Counselling’. The committee organise workshops and seminars for its members and promotes counselling via its website and counselling directory and newsletter for over 300 counsellors in the Sussex area.

As a counsellor with ‘Age Concern’ where I see clients aged over 50 on a wide range of issues in the Brighton area.

I provide crisis telephone counselling to employees and clients of various Health Insurance companies and under insurance schemes and clients under health Insurance polices from throughout the UK for leading Health Insurance providers, and private practice clients.

I currently work part-time the Legal Services Commission where I currently provide telephone training to improve telephone customer care. I am also the Business Continuity Co-ordinator, Mediation Co-ordinator and the Health & Safety representative for the Commission’s Southern Region.

I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling from Brighton University
Advanced Certificate in Counselling Skills
I am a qualified Critical Incident Debriefer, and carried out a number of debriefing sessions

I have undertaken a number of counselling short courses dealing with the following areas: Bereavement, Anxiety and Stress, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Telephone Counselling.

I have attended a variety of talks, including talks by Professor Brian Thorne, Sir Richard Bowlby and Professor Maria Rhode.

I have written several reviews in the ‘Sussex Counselling’ newsletter.

Counselling experience

I am experienced in dealing with clients who have been sexually abused and raped. Clients who have been tortured. Adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and associated drug and alcohol issues. Clients who have experienced traumatic events. Issues relating to anxiety, stress, self-esteem, clients with suicidal thoughts, work, survivors of abusive partnerships, sexuality issues, trust and change management, employee conflict. Bereavement.

Relevant work experiences

I have a background of 36 years dealing with individuals legal and social issues work in relation to Legal Aid. Liaising with clients, legal profession and judiciary, either face to face, correspondence and via telephone in areas relating to: Work Issues, Matrimonial Issues inc divorce, separation Domestic Violence and Children Act issues, Housing, Employment in relation to legal proceedings, in relation to the provision of Legal Aid.

Dealing with and implementing organisational change, mentoring. Experience in team leadership, motivation, customer care and Business Continuity Planning.
